For the 2021-2022 academic year, many aspects of campus life will still look very different. The PSU community is returning to in-person learning options and all the benefits that come with a campus experience. For graduate students who are looking to get more involved in campus life, there are numerous student organizations that offer opportunities to meet new people, learn a new skill or get active in a particular field of interest. Here are a few groups especially relevant for graduate business students:
The Sustainable Leaders Network is dedicated to uniting students in the common interest of nurturing educators and leaders who are creating a world that is livable, ecologically sustainable, bio-culturally diverse, socially just and promotes equity in sustainability. Their activities are both on campus and in the larger community, in order to support a solidarity movement for the creation of environmental and social justice.
Athletic & Outdoor (A&O) Connect at Portland State University connects students with athletic and outdoor industry leaders and resources to create lasting relationships and build strong networks. Their goal is to bridge the gap from academia to career by establishing an environment of shared learning, engagement opportunities, and lasting relationships with mentors, peers, faculty and industry professionals.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap from academia to career by establishing an environment of shared learning, engagement opportunities, and lasting relationships with mentors, peers, faculty and industry professionals,” says club President Amalia Boyles. “Throughout the school year, A&O Connect hosts monthly speaker engagements, networking events, and HQ campus tours, partnering with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Nike, adidas, Columbia and more. We’re open to all students within the Athletic and Outdoor Industry Certificate program, and anyone who shares our passion for this industry.”
Net Impact’s mission is to serve PSU and the Portland community by enabling positive change through business in pursuit of a sustainable future. They want to inspire, educate and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. Net Impact members are current and emerging leaders in corporate responsibility, social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, international development and environmental sustainability who are actively improving the world.
Blockchain at Portland State is a student group interested in expanding the Portland State student bodies’ knowledge of blockchain protocol and other related emerging financial technologies. They are looking to educate themselves and their peers about how blockchain/future tech operates, and how it can be utilized for public and private benefit.
“Blockchain at Portland State University is a club focused on the education and development of Enterprise Blockchain Solutions,” says club President Kyle Moore. “We aim to be the catalyst of inspiration for students to use Blockchain Technology to solve legacy business problems creatively. We will be at Party in the Park on September 30th! See our club page for more information.”
