About the Master of Science in Applied Data Science for Business
Demand for digital transformation leaders is growing across industries like manufacturing, tech, insurance, banking and financial services. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 11% increase in national occupational growth for this skillset over the next ten years.
As the newest graduate business program at Portland State University’s School of Business, the Master of Science in Applied Data Science for Business (MSADSB) was developed with input from leaders of ESCO Group, The Standard, Autodesk, Daimler, Pacific Source, Amazon AWS and Nike.
The program is expressly designed to help professionals grow as a leader of digital transformation, bridging business acumen and data science skills. Experiential learning and interactive coursework with industry partners help MSADSB candidates develop management and strategy expertise to leverage new and emerging technology and be an advocate of ethical digital transformation and applied data science.
The MSADSB curriculum ensures candidates have exposure to critical tools and skills like R, Python and Tableau and hands-on coursework in novel business models, organizational change, statistical analysis, data mining, visualization and more. With a choice of certificate specialization in business intelligence and analytics, health and clinical informatics, HR analytics or blockchain, MSADSB candidates graduate with two high-impact credentials.
